Who We Are

Root

The Queer Food Growing Collective (QFGC) is a grassroots initiative grounded in food justice, queer visibility, land connection, and community healing. Through growing, gathering, and sharing, we reclaim space and affirm that queer futures are rooted in care.

Grow

We centre queer growers, sustainable practices, and cultural knowledge, providing space to learn, grow, and resist oppression through food. We currently host markets, workshops, and cultural events. We’re building networks across the Cape Flats and beyond.

Heal

QFGC started as a seed, evolving into a network of safe green spaces that nurture physical and mental well-being. The community food gardens grow a variety of vegetables for soup kitchens and indigenous plants for healing.
